Ever wondered about high fluctuation rate of employees is some (architectural) practices?
There maybe three root causes (found in the book: Three Signs of a Miserable Job: A Fable for Managers, by Patrick Lencioni).
First.
Anonymity.
One persons bad job might be another's dream job - but misery is universal.
One of the most common causes: They are not know by the person they work for. The person whom they work for is not interested what's going on in their life. Managers often forget what it is to be an employee and focus only on getting things done.
Second.
Irrelevance.
Is the feeling that an employer gets when they don't see how their job really make difference in someone else life in some large or small way: having no sense of the relevance of their job.
Third.
"Immeasurement".
All human beings in any kind of a job need some ways to assess their own performance that's objective.
Listen to an interview with Patrick Lencioni on Harvard Business Online to get more information about the book.
