CAD by OMA, MVRDV and Nouvel.

Images by Autodesk.

Autodesk makes CAD workers beleive they've again aged: releases always appear a year in the future - 2007 in 2006, and 2008 in 2007! Anyway - do you really use AutoCAD 2006's new features like "Dynamic Blocks"? Or maybe the "Tool Palettes" of version 2004? At least the user interfaces is getting more and more beautiful.

This year's new AutoCAD releases are going Dutch: AutoCAD 2008 features the IIT of OMA and AutoCAD Architecture 2008 (formerly Autodesk Architectural Desktop) gets MVRDV's WOZOCD! Only the small AutoCAD LT 2008 shows Jean Nouvel's Torre Agbar on the package.

Does Autodesk think that the packaging is going to sell more seats? Its been a long time since I purchased autocad anywhere other than online.

Plus, although its nice to see some interesting projects on the covers, its seems like they could have picked some more current projects. After all, if we are working with Autocad 2008, then don't we want to see a building that is less than 5 years old!

are they also saying that you can draw the Torre Agbar with LT? Hmmm doesn't say much for the other versions then

I was told that Autodesk hasn't asked or paid MVRDV for using their building image! Somehow strange - maybe they are to arrogant to care about architects..
